Final Concepts 08-10

Along side concept 08, (left) we have two new designs. I added to the centre design by 'beefing him up' a bit and changing the shoulder guards. The right-most one devolved from a surprising thumbnail design. I completely redrew this one as I felt it was too superhero-esc. The addition of heavier armour makes him more of a soldier, but I continued with the earlier idea to have the energy weaponry installed directly into the armour.

Final concepts 08

The 8th of my final concepts. The Helmet design sprang out of nowhere aafter designing the shoulders and neck based on earlier concepts. The neck piece was around the idea of a medieval gorget.
These are a few more concepts a drew from the thumbnail images I sketched out. The top most one was designed with a very ornate cathedral in mind, the idea that it would be a bastion where people would ferry in and out through checkpoints.
This thumbnail was a 20 min sketch of a city the focus being more on the sky-ways used as transport.
A scene with a hover car (designed as I went...) battling a cruiser and somehow winning. I wanted to convey a sense of action in this scene by adding movement and energy to the explosion and vehicle.

Final Concepts 05-07

This design has been reigned in a bit from its original iteration. The spec ops element has been toned down by the addition of armour plates and the shortening of the cape.
This design stands out as a more bulky design for the soldier. Most of the changes in this design are subtle, such as the inlay on the armour and the redesign of the helmet. The cloth wrapped about his body is wrapped in a fashion that allows for in to be drawn as a hood (should it be needed) and is secured tightly enough over armour so as not to interfere with movement.
This design has maintained the scale-mail protection but has added elements to mark it as non-medieval. Nothing says sci-fi armour like glowing bits. A added these and removed the gold trim to avoid overloading the design into something too austere.

There was to be another design uploaded today, but due to my computer locking up mid save shortly before this upload, I lost it. When I try to open the file it says 'Could not complete request because an unexpected 'end-of-file' was encountered.

Final concepts 01-04

This is the first of my selected concepts and is very close to the original design, the addition of the crimson to his sides adds a common theme that they all share. The tapered helmet resembles a birds beak and the chest piece is designed to be reminiscent of a bird's crest. The addition of pouches makes him appear more soldierly.
This is a darker design of the same concept, with a visor instead of the tapered helm. It appears a much more heavily armoured appearance and a more worn, battle-weary look to it.
The hooded design makes the Roscillians appear more specialized but worked too well as a design to be overlooked in my opinion. The head resembles the birds head and the layered armour similar to feathers. The addition of a sidearm to the original 'in-built' weaponry also adds a more offensive look to it. The energy in the gloves can be projected as a weapon or utilized as a shield.
This is a further development of the energy armour idea. The energy emitted from the outlets burns similar to flame and can be directed as offensive beams and discharges. The original design featuring the hawk emblazoned on the chest has been lost in this design but the inspiration still remains. I feel that so far, this design best meets the specification of outlandish technology at a level almost beyond understanding. How can a suit like this contain energy and manipulate it the way it does?

Further thumbnails

These are some edited designs to see various versions and ideas on improving the thumbnails. I have done many of these thumbnails, most of which I will not upload to my blog due to time constraints, but will be submitted as part of the concept's development.

These are the designs that I have chosen to develop further. I feel that they are a wide mix of varied ideas and styles but will continue to modify them to see if the basic design can be improved upon. It is from these designs however that the final 15 images will be chosen.
